Hi all. Dinner tonight was effortless. I had two beautiful New York Strips Steaks that I needed to cook since I’ve had them in the freezer. Beef cost too much to throw away due to freezer burn. Here is how I prepared my steaks.
I cleaned the steaks and placed them in a zip lock bag and added
¼ cup of soy sauce (low sodium)
¼ cup of Worcestershire sauce
¼ cup of balsamic vinegar
2 large cloves of garlic kept whole
1 ½ tablespoons of Chicago Steak Seasoning.
Mix together in the bag and let marinate for 2 to 8 hours. Even overnight if preferred.
In a cast iron skillet, I added butter and olive oil to warm together. Then added the steaks and let them sear to a nice golden brown. Add the remainder of the marinade, sliced portabella mushrooms (use whatever mushrooms you desire) and onions.
Since I can’t eat rare meat, I pulled the steaks just as they were beginning to release their juices and placed on a sheet pan with the mushrooms, onions and garlic, and put in a 350-degree oven for 20 minutes. They came out perfect for me.
